Peter Goddard lost his courageous fight with cancer on Anzac Day. His funeral was held last Friday and it was a heart-warming ceremony in which members of Peter's family paid tribute to Peter in all aspects of his life, from parenting, mentoring many of the guys who had been apprentices in his business, to his dedication to sport, playing and umpiring cricket and football. Our association with Peter came with his interest in horse racing and along with his lifelong friend Steve McMeekin they bought shares in horses that we had. Peter had quite a bit of luck and the highlight would have been owning a share in For Your Eyes Only. We were so impressed with Marianne's dedication and love of her husband, especially the support she gave him during his illness. Laura and myself and the rest of the team at Paul Jordan Racing will sadly miss Peter's happy go lucky attitude on Saturdays and we'll always remember that very special day at Pinjarra when he led in Mysticity after her maiden win.
