Rich Red broke his maiden by winning a 1200m maiden at Pinjarra yesterday. It was a fine effort because he had to overcome a wide barrier, sit outside the leader and then kick on strongly in the straight to hold off the favourite who was stalking him throughout the race. I’m sure this horse has a bright future and should be better suited as the distance of his races increases. The photo shows Craig Staples bringing Rich Red back to scale.
